New Toy!...

And it's not a Christmas present! Hudson is in LOVE with the dogs, and most recently their dog bed as well. I truly believe he thinks he is one of them! I mean they are all on four "legs" at this point :) I snapped these pictures this morning. I have to explain to him that it is their bed and not his toy about 304,872,309,395 times a day. (I also take him away from their food and water bowls about this many times a day)

I forgot to mention...he doesn't care if the bed is already taken or not! Moose and Lola have been so good at putting up with him. Time to invest in lint rollers!!!

Christmas pictures coming soon with toys that are definitely fun, but not comparing to the dog bed today.

Turkey, Ten Months, and Time Off!

Here we are again! A few too many days late...I think I am just going to have to come to terms that with a moving baby, work, and school I am going to have to be a "monthly" blogger. My goal was always weekly, but I think after not meeting that for some time now I will change the goal to monthly :) So let's play catch up for our month of November and half of December...

November seems to have come and gone so quickly! Thanksgiving was a great, and we were able to spend time with a lot of family. My brother Josh came to visit us for the holiday which was so nice.

We spent Thanksgiving Day with Cody's family (Teresa, Rick, Matt, and Danica). Then the day after Thanksgiving we spent it with my family.(My parents, my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) Hudson tried some mashed potatoes and chocolate pie.

December 4th Hudson turned ten months old! He is a busy busy boy!
Weight: He weighs about 17 lbs and 8 oz. I'm not sure of his length, but he seems long. He is still wearing mostly 6-9 months clothing, but I having a feeling he will move up to 9-12 soon. Still staying at the 3rd percentile range.
Eating: He is eating on a normal schedule now (3 meals a day with one snack) We have tried a few table foods like bananas, potatoes, and carrots. He still isn't very interested. He loves all the Gerber graduate snacks (puffs, crunchies, yogurt melts) and he can feed himself with all of them. He holds his bottle all by himself, and we are still working on finding the right sippy cup that he likes.
Play: He moves and explores everything. His favorite is the cable receiver and sound system. We are learning of all the things we need to baby proof. He also enjoys opening and closing the fireplace cover. He is also fascinated by the presents and the tree (Yes, I was crazy enough to put low ornaments and wrapped gifts under the tree with a ten month old!)

He gnawed on one and unwrapped a little corner. That's ok though, he has a head start for Saturday. He also LOVES bath time. I think he would spend all night in there if I would let him.

Tricks: He can crawl everywhere, and he is getting quick! He can stand holding on to something, and pull up to his knees.
Talking: He can say dadadada and eh. Dadada is by far is favorite. I think he is starting to be able to understanding things though. I asked him if he wanted his bottle today and answered back with a sound and followed me to the kitchen! Still no teeth!

We are now having "expected" time off, but the middle of December brought about some "unexpected" time off :(. We got hit with the dreaded RSV. Hudson was diagnosed with RSV December 6th. That week was full of breathing treatments, little sleep, and lots of snot! He also had an ear infection (which is common) BUT late December 8th he had a reaction to the Amoxicillan. (we won't be taking that again) He had a crazy rash so we spent the 9th in the doctors office again.

Then the night of the 9th he started to have very labored breathing. So we spent the 9th and 10th at the hosptial monitoring his breathing. All in all he missed 8 days of daycare. In general he stayed pretty happy. He still laughed and played. The doctors were all surprised how playful he was being that sick. One even made the comment "he certainly doesn't look sick!" And then they heard the cough!

Luckily I only had to take off four days of the eight. We are so blessed that my step-dad, Roger, came down to help us out. He was Hudson's "nurse" for that awful time off! Hudson is now healthy and completely free of that yucky virus! YAY!!!

We were scheduled to have family portraits taken in the middle of all of the sickness. (didn't make it) So we decided we would just have to try to take a few ourselves. Cody did a great job!! Here are a few of them...

So now we get to spend time together with our "real" time off. I am so lucky to have a profession where I get off from now until January 4th. We spent yesterday at the mall shopping and visiting Santa. I wasn't sure what to expect with Santa. I thought he would probably go to him because he will go to pretty much anyone. He didn't cry at all! Which I was thankful for, but we didn't get a smile. He just seemed very interested in checking everything out. Side note--Santa line isn't how it used to be! I entered the line virtually through a website. They told me how many people where in front of me and what my expected time would be to visit Santa. Then they sent me a text when I was at the front of line. We walked right up and met Santa! I was very impressed.

Happy Halloween and...

Happy Nine Months!!!

Hudson was "officially" nine months old on November 4th, just shortly after Halloween. He is SO much fun these days!

On Halloween we decided he was still a bit too young to trick or treat. So, he hung out at the house with my parents and us handing out candy! He did such a good job.

Shortly after the festivities, on November 5th, Hudson had his nine month check up. Here are his monthly stats...

Height (length): 26.6 inches (5%tile)
Weight: 16 lbs and 13 ounces (4%tile)
Head circumference: 43 cm (4%tile)

Eating habits: He loves to eat! We have finally got him to eat meat, although he is still a little particular. He will eat "Earth's Best" brand chicken with sweet potatoes, turkey with harvest squash, and turkey with mixed vegetables. He is also enjoyed all of the varieties of the 2nd and 3rd foods now. The options are plenty! Any combination of fruits you can imagine. He is eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner with us. Having baby food plus a bottle at each meal time. He has also been getting a bottle for a snack and before bed. After the visit with the Dr. we are going to try to take the snack bottle away. We replaced it today with rice cereal, Gerber veggie straw snacks, and some water. He wasn't sure about the veggie straws at first, but then he gobbled them up! His sippy cup has also become his new best friend. I personally think he's teething and just really likes chewing on the rubber. He could also have yogurt, 1/2 jar of baby food, etc. as his snack. The Dr. also told us to start trying some table foods. We have tried bananas, potatoes, and carrots. He was not very interested at all in eating them, just playing with them! We will have to keep trying though because the Dr. said only three more months and no more bottles. It's so hard to believe he will be a year old in only three months!!!

Toys: We pulled back out the bouncer that he wasn't fitting in before. He loves it! He bounces like crazy in it. He is slowly outgrowing his activity mat. He enjoys playing with pretty much any toy in sight. I have even caught him with dog toys and dog chews-YUCK! I though it I was going to have a problem with the dogs taking his toys, but it seems we have the opposite.

Movement: He is moving like crazy now. He is sitting up full time and that's how he prefers to be most of the time. He can move from sitting up to his belly. And it's official....HE'S CRAWLING! At first Cody or myself would entice him with a toy. Now he is just everywhere. We have also said goodbye to his infant bath tub. He is sitting in the bath tub like a big boy now, and he loves the water and bath toys.

Teeth: Still no teeth (which makes this table food thing a little trickier), but drooling and chewing non-stop still.

Sleep: He is getting between 10 and 12 hours of sleep each night. We are also lucky that he is still taking two naps a day. Usually 45 minutes-2 hours per nap.

8 months

Yes it is true! Hudson is already 8 months old. My how the time is flying by! Here are his latest stats...
Best Highlight: He is almost sitting up full time! He is able to sit up for longer amounts of time now days. The chair is behind him, but he's not touching it! Promise! He's saying "look at me!"
Age: 8 months
Weight: unknown exact, guessing 17 lbs? (that is total guess)

Eating: I feel like he eats more on our schedule now! He has just three meals a day, plus an afternoon snack. Breakfast is oatmeal and fruit w/ a bottle, Lunch is a veggie w/ a bottle, bottle for a snack, Dinner is rice and a veggie w/ a bottle, last a night time bottle
Sleep:11-12 hours a night, a.m. nap for about an hour, p.m. nap for about two hours
Teeth: None yet, still chewing and drooling like crazy!
Play: Hudson loves to play! He is such a happy boy. He is still a little giggle box. He laughs so much! His great grandma Vi brought him a Clydesdale stuffed and he thought it was too funny! He also laughs at the dogs and being tickled

Toys: farm animals music toy, caterpillar, exersaucer, we just bought him a johnny jump up this weekend, but he's not too interested yet, he loves to just lay on a blanket and play with the things around him, and anything he can get his hands on and turn into a toy (i.e. coffee cup!..p.s. it's empty!)

Doctor notes: He hasn't been to the Dr. since his 6 month well check. He goes this Thursday to see the nurse only for his flu shot. We are scheduled on November 5th for his 9 month well check.
New things:
He tried Baby Mum Mums (teething rice cake) this weekend. He loved it at first, but then just played with it. I think he liked it overall and we will try again. We also got a "training" sippy cup. I didn't get a picture of that but he held it all by himself and had some apple
juice.

(pre weekend haircut...8th one I think!)

(post haircut...oh so handsome!)

Mommarazi

I tried to do the little boy "comb over" but since I have been styling the mohawk since the day he was born (literally) it looks like his hair is trained to stick up!

Bye bye for now! (It looks like he's waving, he he!)

7 months

Okay okay...I have officially become "worst blogger of the year". I saw a friend's blog and someone she follows has the time stamp "last post 23 months ago". I always swore I wouldn't give blogging up so look at least it hasn't been that long! I know you all will forgive me :) He's just to darn cute not to!

Hudson is doing so great! He has grown such a big personality in the last month. He laughs and smiles all the time. He is definitely a happy baby. He is very calm, laid back, and go with the flow. He will just lay and play by himself.

His newest trick is to reach out and grab almost everything. The next step is to then insert it in his mouth. We are having to pull everything out of reach!

He is slobbering like crazy but still no teeth. He is gain a lot more control sitting up but he still can't do it by himself yet. He tries to "army crawl" by pushing and scooting with his feet but no crawling yet.

He has started back a day care as I am back to work. His teachers say he is such a good baby. He is eating well and napping well. Usually a 1 hour morning nap and a 2-2 1/2 hour afternoon nap. It's so sweet to seem him recognized me now when I pick him up. He gets a big smile and is starting to reach out. He tried some chicken today (baby food puree) but didn't seem to care for it. We will try again tomorrow. Hopefully he's not like his mommy and anti-meat!

The next post will be pictures only. Yes I took them all tonight and he is wearing the same pj's in all the pictures because they were taken in about 10 minutes of each other. I have to do what I can with the time I have now back to work!

6 months- just a little late

So this was written about a month ago but I had saved it as a "draft" hoping to take some pictures. I have pictures now but they will go up with 7 months :) ...

Wow! I can't believe half a year has already gone by! Hudson turned 6 months old on August 4th. We were out of town so he just had his check up yesterday. It was quite a long appointment. They have a new vision test they give babies. In the past they weren't allowed to test vision until kids were 4 years old. Now they have a machine where they hook up electrodes on their head and watch their nerves from the brain to the eye as they watch a bright screen. It was actually quite fascinating! Hudson was perfect through the whole test. But when they took the electrodes off he was not happy. And then after that he had to get 3 shots. Not a fun appointment! When we got home he took a three hour nap he was so worn out!

Here are his 6 month stats:

Weight: 14 lbs 10.5 oz (6th percentile)

Height: 25.5 inches (17th percentile)

Foods: Eating almost all fruits and veggies now. He has had squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, apples, bananas, and peaches. In the morning he eats oatmeal and fruit, a veggie for lunch, and rice cereal for dinner. Of course still formula with each meal and 2 additional bottles. He LOVES food! You would think he would weigh more the way he eats. His favorites so far seems to be carrots and bananas. He hasn't seemed too interested in peas or sweet potatoes. But Dr. Rylie told us not to give up so we will keep trying.

Tricks: He can roll over from his back to his stomach and does it all the time now. Hasn't learned to make it back over though. He can sit up with help and Dr. Rylie said she thinks he will be there in a few more weeks. He is grabbing and reaching for everything now. He has learned to pull down the toys on his carseat handle now. He also laughs out loud and Cody and I just love it. Here is a video of him laughing. He loves the "tickle monster". He starts to giggle now if even sees your fingers coming. His neck, stomach, and little thighs are his ticklish spots.

Toys: He still likes his crinkle elephant. He also still plays with his caterpillar a lot. A new toy he loves are his plastic keys. He love to shake them and usually ends up wearing them as a bracelet. He sits in his Bumbo seat well now. He also fits in his exersaucer and enjoys playing in that. He has also become very attached to his green grasshopper lovey. He will hold it in his sleep and it is so sweet.

Sleep: He usually goes to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. and sleeps until 7:00 or 7:30 am. I know I am a lucky girl. He also take two naps a day, usually 1-2 hours each.
