6 months

Emma you are...
Age: 6 months (as of July 17th) Happy 1/2 Birthday!
Height: 26.2 inches (63%tile)
Weight: 15.2 pounds (32 %tile)
Head: 16.7 inches (50 %tile)

Eating: Formula-mostly every 4 hours, but sometimes 3, we still have you on sensitive formula for your gasiness; Baby food-fruit and oatmeal for breakfast, veggie and oatmeal for lunch and dinner

Your schedule looks something close to this:
5:00 bottle
8:30 fruit/oatmeal
9:00 bottle/nap
12:00 veggie/oatmeal
1:00 bottle/nap
4:00 bottle
6:00 veggie/oatmeal
6:30 bath
7:00 bottle/bed

Sleeping: You have slept through the night for the last 3 nights (They say third is a charm, and I hope I'm not jinxing myself!) Before these last 3 days, you still woke up around 12:00 am and 4:00 am. You go down between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. We've tried to make you last later, and it just doesn't work! You have been waking up between 4:30 and 5:30 am. Then you go back to sleep until about 6:30 or 6:45 am. You take two naps a day. A morning nap around 9:00 am and an afternoon nap around 1:00 pm. Your naps last anywhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours. Your afternoon nap is usually longer.

Teeth: none...YET! You drool ALL day. We say we could fill up a gallon jug in a day (see picture above!) You also love you chew on ANYthing. Your favorite thing to chew on is your hand!

Clothes/Diapers: You wear size 3-6 months (getting snug) and 6-9 months. Unlike your brother, you almost always wear clothes true to your age. You wear a size 2 diaper, but I see you moving up to a size 3 soon.

Talking: You babble a lot. Especially in the mirror or to other babies. It's so cute!

Things you love: your brother-you absolutely adore  him! (see video at the end for proof!); being held or someone singing to you; snuggling with your blanket; our dogs-Moose cracks you up and you love petting Lola; taking a bath- we recently took you out of your infant bath and just bathe you in the "big bathtub" with an infant ramp. You love being able to splash around in the water; sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, and pears
Tricks: you can almost sit up. The pictures are very convincing I know! You do well for 20-30 seconds and then you tip! Usually to one side but sometimes backwards. You can roll over from your back to front, but not your front to back. Which leads me to....

Things you dislike: laying on your stomach! (oh how we wish you would learn to roll from stomach to back) I am honestly convinced you may never crawl and just go straight to walking. I'm not sure we will ever be able to get you on your stomach long enough to get you to crawl. You throw the biggest fit! Other things you don't care for: riding in the car; being entertained by the same toy for more than 10 minutes; sometimes strangers; bananas and sometimes apples

And here are a few more pictures and videos of what you have been up to:

Splash park

There is an area close to where we live called The Village at Allen/Fairview. Cody and I have always loved this area. There are all of your normal stores to shop (mall AND Target/Ross type stuff). Plus there are a TON of great restaurants. Plus...there are cool areas to hang out: fireplaces/couches, dog parks, sand volleyball, life size chess, human maze, kid play area, and a SPLASHPARK! You can browse around here The Village If you live in the area, you must check it out.

One of the main reason I like this splash park (there are a lot in our area) is there is a nice amount of shaded area. Which is great when you have a baby and an active one! Here is Emma chillin' in the shade.

And here is our active one aka Hudson playing around. This was his first time at a splash park so he was a little bit hesitant. But he LOVED it!

We will definitely be going back. It is perfect for the stage we are in because I can stay by Emma, and Hudson can run around without me having to worry about him. (I haven't been brave enough for the pool yet because of that reason!)

Summer Fun

Well we are in full summer mode in the Johns' household! This is already week two of summer for us. I am so lucky to get to have a profession where I can spend extra time withe these two kiddos!
I have to admit though...it is very busy! I am lucky that, so far, they are taking an afternoon nap at the same time :) Emma's is about half the length of Hudson's, but hey beggars can't be choosers right!

Disclaimer: I need to get my "real" camera out! Please excuse the iPhone pictures for now...

Memorial Day fun

We already topped 97 degrees yesterday! Luckily the ice cream man made a stop in our neighborhood.

This little girl is growing like a weed! She is super long...at her four month check-up she measured 25 inches (75%) and she weighed 11.7 lbs. (7%). She has been in the teens % in her weight, so we are going back tomorrow for a weight check to double check. Her doctor thinks all her nutrition is just going to her height! Hey, we all wish to be tall and thin right? I think at least 2 of those almost 12 pounds have to be in her cheeks. They are just so kissable!

She is laughing and smiling, which is making it so much fun for Hudson to play with her! Here they are in action...

The Zoo

This past weekend, May 6, we went to the Dallas Zoo. We were brave and took the whole family! My mom and Rog came with us to help out and enjoy the zoo too!

They have a really neat Children's Zoo inside of the zoo. There are Koi fish that Hudson fed and he love seeing them! They splashed quite a bit when we gave them food!
There is a neat little creek area were the kids can play and get wet. Hudson wasn't quite sure at first. But after watching the big kids he was trying to jump and splash around.

Hudson also got to ride a pony!

We  called Cody the bird whisperer. There was this cool room you could go into with the birds. Every single bird wanted to land on Cody! We think they liked his hat. Hudson was just in awe.
A few of the unique animals we saw...

It was so neat to see the elephants while we were there. One was completely submerged swimming. The other one was cooling itself off by spraying itself with it's trunk. This is the statue elephant of course.
We got to the zoo right when they opened at 9 am. We made it until about 12:30. The weather was really starting to warm up and Miss Emma was not happy! Plus Hudson was getting pretty tired himself. With Texas weather that may be the last trip until fall!

Emma goes for her 4 month appointment on Thursday...stay tuned!
