I'm a Big Boy Now!

We made the decision to take the real plunge into potty training! I can honestly say I wasn't planning on starting this early. My plans all along were to wait until summer when I had off to really work with him. Especially with a new baby at home! The only thing I've really heard about potty training is do it when the kid is ready. Well, he had been using the potty here and there and staying pretty dry in his Pull Ups so it seemed like he was ready. Plus I still had 2 weeks at home left with him while on maternity leave. I also recently read the Cox Quads (click here to see her potty training story)blog on the 3-day potty training method. I thought if she could potty train quadruplets in 3 days surely I can do it with Hudson in 3 days.

The 3 day method is basically just to put them in underwear day 1 and stay at home for 3 days in a row. Taking them to potty often and rewarding them every time making a HUGE deal. So we stocked up on cute undies and M&Ms and we were ready. We started last Monday, February 20th.

Day 1: 2-3 accidents
Day 2: 4-5 accidents (everything I read says this is the hardest day)
Day 3: 0 accidents!!!

Day 4 (Thursday) we were brave enough to take him out. We went to dinner at a local restaurant where they all know him and knew it wouldn't be a huge deal if he had an accident. He went accident free!

Since then he has been several places: CVS, Sonic, trip to Nanna and Papa's (about a 35 minute drive), haircut, restaurant and has still been accident free in public! AND he will use the big potty in a public place (I was nervous about that step) Since Day 4 he has had one accident a day, but I am happy with that!

He still hasn't gone number 2 on the potty (I'm hoping that will come soon!) Also, we are still putting him in Pull Ups during nap and at night (I'm not that brave yet!). Although, he wakes up from most naps dry :)

As we say after every successful potty trip...YAY!!!!!!!! I'm a very happy Momma to have one out of diapers :)

2 years and 1 month

Hudson turned 2 on February 4th and I promised stats from his 2 year appointment:

Height: 32.5 inches

Weight: 22.7 pounds

Diaper size: almost grown out of a 3! We have switched over to pull ups though...we have started "lightly" potty training. He has a Cars potty and knows how to use it. He uses the potty about 3 times a day. I'm debating on if I tackle full force potty training:UNDIES! (thinking about trying the 3 day method) before I go back to work or waiting until summer.

Clothes: pants 18 months; shirts 2T, some 18 months; pj's 2T

Favorite Foods: grapes, yougurt, cheese, any kind of pasta, any kind of candy! He has become a more picky eater with his age. And it doesn't make any sense because it changes daily what he likes/doesn't like besides the foods mentioned which he will almost always eat.

Favorite toys/activities: iPad apps (Wheels on the Bus, Counting, Monkey's Lunchbox, Bowling), Leapfrog toys, cars/trucks/airplanes, any toy that makes noise!, dancing, singing

Talking: I don't even know where to begin with the words he knows! He will repeat almost any words that you try to get him to say. He has also started saying "sentences" (two words) such as "Hudson eat", "Sis night night"

Milestones: Vocabulary huge!, tries to run and jump, able to follow oral directions/tasks, can eat independently with fork or spoon

Emma is now one month old! Her are her stats:

Height: 20.5 inches (last checked at 2 weeks)

Weight: 8.6 pounds (as of today!)

Diaper size: We are in between...newborn are getting quite snug but a 1 kind of swallows her!

Clothes: Newborn, but see her moving up to 0-3 very soon!

Foods: Formula 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours during the day, 4 ounces every 3-5 hours during the night. Some nights I'm luckier than others!

Favorite toys/activities: none yet, but she likes to be held 24/7. She is a little bit more high maintenance than her brother was!

Talking: no sounds yet!

Milestones: getting better at holding her head

Here are some pictures we had made of Miss Emma when she was 2 weeks...

Happy Birthday Hudson!

Our first baby turned two today! I can't believe that it was two years ago today that this little man came into the world.

As cliche as it sounds, it does seem like just yesterday. At this time two years ago we were actually all at the hospital anxiously awaiting his arrival. He is officially two at 11:23 pm!

Just one year ago...

I'm not exactly sure of his stats, but we go to see the doctor on Monday for his two year old check up. I will update the blog again then! The party is the fun part anyway...right? Here are the many pictures from today's special event.

The decor...We (I say we...my mom planned most of this as I wasn't sure how much I would be able to do with a brand new baby. I just help set up) went with the baseball theme.

The spread

All the yummy snacks...

Baseball pops (white chocolate covered oreos)

Cracker jacks

Sunflower seeds

Popcorn

The cake (cupcakes)...made by Teresa (Cody's mom)
We also had baseball favorites: hot dogs and nachos (not pictured!) Thanks to Dada for grilling them up!

The guests...Having a newborn we decided to have a "family only" party, but I think it was just the right size.
Danica (Matt's girlfriend) and Matt (Cody's brother)

Lala (Cody's mom) and Poppy (Cody's dad)
Gramps (Hudson's great grandpa) and Nanny (Hudson's great-grandma)
Mimi (Hudson' great aunt, my mom's sister)
Karen...she needs a fun name! (Hudson's other great aunt, my mom's other sister)
Shelby (my cousin, Karen's daughter)
Papa (my step-dad) and Nanna (my mom)
Barret (my cousin's son, Karen's grandson)
Our new family of four!

The gifts...He got so many cool gifts! A "Little People" dump truck, a "Little People" airplane, some smaller airplanes and helicopters, some cool tools that make sounds and work (safety goggles included!), an iTunes gift card, a new pair of shoes

Hudson LOVED us all singing Happy Birthday to him. He loves to be the center of attention and this was just perfect for him! Especially since we have had a little girl sneak in that has been the center of attention here lately.

He also loved the Twizzlers! So much that he didn't even want to try the cupcake. I hate to tell him that he missed out there. They were yummy!

Poppy trying to convince him how good the cupcakes are.
Hudson telling him Twizzlers are better!
You never can be too safe with Twizzlers!
Outdoor fun...

We love our little boy SO much and can't wait to see what this next year will bring!
