Missouri 2011

We took our annual vacation for our family reunion June 25-July 2nd this year. Each year my step-dad's side of the family gets together on Table Rock Lake in Kimberling City, Missouri. Last year Hudson was only 5 and a half months old, so he didn't fully enjoy this company. This year was a whole different story! He is such a ham and loved the attention from all of the family members.

He did some chilling...
Pa
Nam
Some swimming...

Worked up an appetite...

Some healthy...
Some not..

He had two WHOLE ears of corn!
A little kayaking...He got to know the kayak well. He would point and say "Pa boat"

Boating...

The annual bowling tournament...We think their AC was out. It was very HOT! The name of the bowling alley is Hillbilly Bowl and Hudson fit right in with his shirt off. They had fans going everywhere which was Hudson's favorite spot to be.

The gang...
We failed to defend our championship title this year. The Thwings took home the bowling ball trophy, but...
Pa took home the highest score!
Good 'ol family fun...

Pa looks pretty silly, but it got Hudson to smile!

How fast they grow!

Game Face!

Which one is scarier???

This one...

Or this one...
For Mom, definitely #2! Although I think #1 is pretty scary for most Baylor opponents. Last night Hudson had his second bad fall. His first wasn't very well documented, but he fell off his tractor and scratched his nose pretty bad about a month ago. This is where the second incident happened...

Hudson LOVES the bath. Last night he was on his knees leaning over the edge and his hands slipped. He fell and cut his eye open pretty good. We tried to ice it, but that isn't very easy with a busy 15 month old. He looked pretty tough this morning going to daycare!

This is tonight, so you can see it's healing quickly already. I know this won't be the second or last time we have some boo boos with this boy! (P.S. you can see bottom tooth #3 in this pic)

Better Late than Never

Hudson turned 15 months just two weeks ago on May 4th. This was one of his "milestone" check ups. I decided I will try to blog as much as possible, but I will only do "stats" at his "milestone" check ups. So here they are:

Height: 30 inches (16%)

Weight: 20 lbs (3%)

Sizes: Size 3 diaper (almost ready to move up), size 3 shoe, 12 months shorts, 12-18 months shirts

New words: thank you, mmm (when something is good!) He can still say dog, da-da, side. He is starting to communicate a lot more even without words. He can sign "more" when he wants more food. He also points to things if he wants them. He will reach when he wants up and has said up once or twice, but not consistently.

Teeth: He has three teeth that have come through all the way and you can see on the bottom. He has four teeth that have come through on the top, but they are not far enough down yet that you can see them well. We started brushing his teeth and he LOVES it!

Tricks: He can stand by himself! He is so close to walking. He will take 3 or 4 steps at a time.

He has started using a fork to eat. The fork is easier because I can stab the food for him and it won't fall off. The spoon works with some sticky things, but for the most part he doesn't have the coordination yet to keep the food on the spoon. He still LOVES all kinds of food.

When he hears music turn on he starts to dance side to side.

He thinks it's hilarious when people laugh. He will start to laugh anytime other people are laughing.

Toys: He still loves any hat or sunglasses. He has now found drawers and cabinets and loves to open and close them. At school his favorite toy is the house. He opens and closes the door all day. He is pretty independent when it comes to play time.

His little personality is really starting to shine through now! We are going to have a fun summer!

More Easter

Hudson had his school Easter party on Thursday. He dressed up in some spring colors, so when we got home we snapped a few pictures in front of the beautiful flowers.

Meanwhile Dad was working outside and was worn out, so he took a break. Hudson must have been worn out from taking pictures. He went to give some cuddling.

After about 1 minute of cuddling he was ready to play again.

Easter morning opening his basket. Notice the change in hair :( I have yet so find a place that doesn't chop it off. It's getting so light now too it looks shorter than it is.

Easter one year ago. CRAZY how much he has changed!

Easter Fun!

Our neighborhood has great events for every holiday. This is the first event where we felt Hudson could enjoy the fun. We have realized now that we have a kid, we will see what our homeowner's fees are going to!

The first stop were the eggs. I didn't bring a basket because I didn't think he would "get it" yet at only 14 months. Boy was I wrong!!! He loved the eggs and wanted to take them all. I think he thought they were balls because he loves playing with any kind of ball.

Next up was the Easter Bunny. Again, I wasn't sure how he would react. Especially because the Easter Bunny was surrounded by eggs on the ground and all Hudson wanted to do was be on the ground with the eggs. To our surprise he loved the Easter Bunny!

(Notice he wouldn't let go of the eggs even for the Easter Bunny. He also has a scratch on his nose from his new tractor.)

He smiled for a few quick pictures and then he was back to searching for eggs.

He tried to take as many as he could, but the neighborhood did have one rule...

We took a break from egg hunting to visit the petting zoo. Hudson loves our dogs and I thought he would understand and want to pet all the animals.

He did like this fluffy bunny, but she didn't like him for too long.

The food was also a distraction. Hudson thought that it was a snack for him!!!

We had a great time this morning at the event. They also had jump houses and face painting, but we will save that for another year or two. I can't wait to see what other events we will get to be a part of now!
